The Meetings

The Northern Lake County Illinois Chapter was organized in October of 1984. Since its inception the group has met the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Millburn Congregational Church. The church is located at the intersection of Rte. 45 and Grass Lake Road, Millburn, Illinois.

In 2009 a second meeting site was established to offer support to Spanish-speaking bereaved parents in our area. This group meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the nursery room at Holy Family Church, 450 Keller St., Waukegan. Take Belvidere St./Route 120 a few blocks east of Green Bay Road, and turn north on Keller. The church is there, near the corner, on the west side of the street. It backs up to the Hobo store. Park and enter at the back of the church, at the door where it says "office." We will have signs pointing to the room.

All bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents are welcome to attend either or both meetings.  If attending alone would be uncomfortable for you, you are welcome to bring a friend.

Meetings typically involve introductions, discussion of a topic related to grief, sharing of personal experiences and feelings, and an informal time of refreshments and one-to-one conversation.  Meetings conclude by 9:30 p.m.
